08:00–18:00 Doha time, which gives a full choice of morning, afternoon and early-evening sessions.

Qatar has been on a fixed UTC+3 offset since 1988 and observes no daylight saving, so the two-hour gap to Pakistan never moves. MoEHE schedules second-semester mid-term examinations away from Ramadan, which means the assessment load falls either side of it rather than during it.

Two hours behind, all year

Doha is two hours behind Pakistan and has been on a fixed UTC+3 offset since 1988. Our weekday block of 14:00–22:00 PKT is 12:00–20:00 in Doha, and our weekend block of 10:00–20:00 PKT is 08:00–18:00.

Because neither country changes its clocks, a slot agreed in September is the same slot in April. Families arriving in Qatar from the UK often expect a seasonal shift; there is not one on either side of this particular pair.

Qatar's schooling is mostly private, and mostly expatriate

Roughly 334 licensed private institutions serve about 241,332 students, of whom 81% are expatriates. That proportion is unusual even by Gulf standards, and it shapes what tutoring in Qatar actually is: support for families whose children are sitting a foreign qualification in a country that does not set it.

British programmes are the largest single group at around 44% of the private market, which is why IGCSE and GCSE Mathematics account for most of our Qatari enrolments. American and IB provision follow, with CBSE serving the Indian community.

The calendar is fixed to 2028

MoEHE approved a calendar in July 2025 that fixes the structure for 2025–26, 2026–27 and 2027–28 and deliberately aligns public and private school holidays. The year runs two semesters, from late August to late June, with the mid-year break in the last third of December and first-semester finals held before Qatar National Day.

That stability is useful. A family can plan a two-year IGCSE course against published dates rather than waiting for each year's announcement, and we build revision schedules to the same fixed points.

How we work with families in Doha

GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics run as 90-minute sessions, two to four a week, in groups of no more than four. International-curriculum support runs one-to-one at 60 minutes, which is what students moving between systems mid-year usually need.

The first decision on Cambridge IGCSE 0580 is Core or Extended, and it is made at entry rather than in the exam hall. Core is capped at grade C, so a student aiming for a competitive university place needs Extended — we work a full past series under timed conditions before advising either way.
