08:00–18:00 Kuwait time, which is where longer sessions before the June examination period go.

Our time (Pakistan)

Kuwait observes Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, all year and makes no daylight saving clock changes. The two-hour gap to Pakistan is therefore fixed. Grade 12 national examinations run to the end of June, later than most Gulf systems, so the Kuwaiti revision season extends past the point at which many international schools have broken up.

• Kuwaiti national curriculum set by the Ministry of Education — Arabic-medium, with new national curricula rolled out from the 2025/26 academic year
• Secondary streaming — Grades 9 and 10 follow a common curriculum, then Grades 11 and 12 split into Science and Arts specialisations
• British and Cambridge curriculum (IGCSE and A Level) across a large private international sector
• American curriculum (US high school diploma, often with Advanced Placement) — one of the largest private segments in Kuwait
• Indian CBSE — 18 Indian schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education
• Pakistani curriculum (FBISE) at community schools including Pakistan English School in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Hawally Pakistan English School and Pakistan School and College in Salmiya

Two hours behind, and never shifting

Kuwait sits on Arabia Standard Time, UTC+3, and makes no daylight saving changes. Subtract two hours from our timetable for local time: our weekday block of 14:00–22:00 PKT is 12:00–20:00 in Kuwait City, and our weekend block is 08:00–18:00.

The whole of a Kuwaiti student's afternoon and early evening is therefore inside our day. A slot booked in October is the same slot in May, which matters more in a market where the terminal examination season runs unusually late.

Four systems, and a Pakistani one among them

Kuwait runs an Arabic-medium national curriculum alongside one of the Gulf's larger British and American private sectors, 18 CBSE-affiliated Indian schools, and a set of Pakistani community schools teaching the FBISE syllabus.

That last group is unusual, and it makes Kuwait one of the few overseas markets where a student can be studying exactly what our Pakistan-based students study. Pakistan English School in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh even lets Grades 9 to 12 choose between FBISE and IGCSE, which is a real decision and one we are asked about often.

A Grade 12 season that runs into July

The national Grade 12 examinations are set centrally and run in late June into early July, with the exact start tied to when the Hijri New Year holiday falls — for 2026 the Ministry scheduled them to begin on either 17 or 21 June depending on that date, with the Science stream finishing at the end of June and the Arts and Religious Education streams a day later.

Cambridge candidates are on a different calendar entirely, sitting the main series in May and June with a second series in October and November, and CBSE candidates sit in February to April. Three examination seasons in one country is the normal planning problem here.

How we work with families in Kuwait

Cambridge IGCSE and GCSE Mathematics run as 90-minute sessions, two to four a week, in groups of no more than four. For students on the FBISE route we use our Grade 9–10 programme, 60 to 90 minutes, four to six times a week, which reflects that Grade 9 marks are aggregated into the final SSC result rather than discarded.

Where a family is choosing between FBISE and IGCSE for Grades 9 to 12, we walk through what each route actually leads to before recommending either. That decision affects university applications several years later, and it is easier to make well at the start of Grade 9 than to unpick in Grade 11.
